is jealousy always a bad thing? or should i be asking, is it ever a good thing? yes, love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous, love is not selfish. is there a rightful way to be jealous? God is love, but God is a jealous God.
what is love? is love something you need to grow to choose? is love something you run into, and then choose to continue? is love, unconditional love, too lofty a thing to aim for? how does romantic love fit into unconditional love?

...head hurting...

What kind of God is jealous? What sort of omnipotent being becomes jealous because one of His followers finds love in another of His followers?

It's a human construct of God being jealous. As you said yourself, God is Love. God cannot be Love and jealousy. It's not possible. That's like saying someone is armed and gregarious. It's a contradiction in terms.

I'm compelled to disagree with anonymous number one. God's jealousy is by NO means a human construct. One need only look as far as Exodus 20:5 and 34:14, Deuteronomy 4:24 and 6:15, Joshua 24:19 and several others. The Bible clearly depicts God as jealous, in fact it quotes God claiming to be jealous!! The most notable of these appears in Exodus 20:5 in the ten commandments. God calls Himself jealous in the ten commandments!!! Big deal!! Love and jealously aren't contradictions in the least when you consider that God's ways are far beyond human understanding. We understand God's jealousy no more than we understand His love. It's clear in scripture, however, that God's jealousy is rooted deeply in His love, as it's always evoked when that which He loves is in jeopardy or flirting with abandoning Him. God wants their affections, so when His people turn their wants elsewhere, God's jealously lights up like a roman candle.
